Dito Yuwono is working across various mediums including photography, installation, video, performance, and curatorial practice. Dito is especially interested in collectivity, spatial-history and politics, working with community, and recollecting memories to find the link between memory-citizen-history. His work often serves as a form of storytelling using personal approach to subtly grasp the bigger picture of socio-political environment. Dito is a member of Mes56 Artist Collective, and Co-Founder of Lir Space, an independent space that aims to build a supportive environment for young artists in Yogyakarta.
Some of his solo projects include “Have We Met?” (Lir Space – Yogyakarta, 2011), “Finding Stillness” (Artsphere – Jakarta, 2012), “The Memories of Unidentified Experience” (KKF – Yogyakarta, 2014), “Recollecting Memories: Tukang Foto Keliling” (Kaliurang – Yogyakarta, 2013 and Ruang Rupa – Jakarta, 2015), and “Geography of Here and There” (NCCA – Darwin Australia, 2016). He also participated in residencies at Het Wilde Weten-Rotterdam, Netherland (2017); Project Goleb-Amsterdam, Netherland (2017); Village Video Festival-Jatiwangi Art Factory, Jatiwangi, Indonesia (2016); Northern Center for Contemporary Art (NCCA)-Darwin, Australia (2015); and Ruang Rupa-Jakarta, Indonesia (2015).
