Payal Arya pursued her BA degree in Psychology and Sociology from Mumbai University, BFA diploma from Rachana Sansad, Bombay and MFA from Shiv Nadar University, Delhi. Through her practice, she creates several sites of immersion, wherein the viewer would encounter the world coloured through the filter of the mind. She attempts to question notions of distance, position and the experience of time through site-specific installations. She has exhibited at ‘Stop Making Sense 3 and 4', Bombay, 2013, 2014, ‘When No one is Looking’ Kala Ghoda festival, Bombay, 2013, Master's Show at the basement of KNMA, Noida, 2016, ‘Minute per Image’ at Tifa, Pune, 2017, 'Regimes of Truth' at Gati Dance Forum, Delhi, 2018, 'Saavdhaan: The Regimes of Truth' at Kalakar Theatre, Delhi, 2018 and at Bajaj Bhavan, Mumbai, 2019, 'Future is here'. She was part of the ‘Amplified Voice’ workshop at Kochi in 2018 and artist in residence at LAMO, Ladakh, July 2018.
