Asha Ponikiewska | India
Asha Ponikiewska loves Chai, her Cats, the Creepers growing out of her balcony and her Cycle
that needs constant repairing. Professionally, she would be introduced as a Multi-Disciplinary
Artist trained in Bharatanatyam, Seraikella Chhau, Yoga and Contemporary dance. She is also an
Expressive Arts Therapist with a Certificate from SMArT, Bangalore.
She experiments with form and embodied movement as part of her practice. She prefers slowing
down in the performance space and practising stillness, bringing the audience to gather and
reflect about their lives. She is equally excited about being part of the fast paced urban
landscapes, dancing and moving amidst historical monuments in Delhi or along the bustling
streets of Bangalore. While she is not in the studio moving, she writes her blog, filled with
reflections, poetry and stories, paints her inner landscape as visual art and enjoys everything
simple, from sieving her compost to watching the clouds get by.
She has performed in theatre productions such as ‘Water Station’ directed by Sankar
Venkateshwaran, ‘Stroll’ directed by Moon Moon Singh, ‘Suraj ka Satwan Ghoda’ dir Rajkumar
Grant Rajak and choreographed her short solo piece ‘Pocchawali’ during GSDR 2013 as well as
a duet ‘Kintsugi’ during FoCoCo III 2016.
